A railway car coupling arrangement comprises matingly interengaged male and female members 50, 60, a shim 69, and a follower block 70 interposed between the butt end 54 of the male member 50 and the rear wall 74 of the female member cavity. Mutually inclined planar surfaces 78, 79 of the shim 69 cooperate with mutually inclined planar surfaces 75, 76 of the follower block 70 whereby to resist lateral and/or rotational displacement of the components from the desired relative positions thereof. The surfaces 68, 74 may alternatively or additionally be formed by mutually inclined planar surfaces. The railway car coupling arrangement may be an articulation, as shown, or a drawbar coupling arrangement. <IMAGE> |
