PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a refuse drying amount without increasing in size the dryer by improving a refuse agitating function and drying the refuse without drying unevenness. SOLUTION: A ventilation type rotary dryer for a refuse comprises a rotary cylinder 1 having a scraping plate 2 for agitating a material to be dried on an inner peripheral wall in such a manner that the material is fed from one end side, dried and then discharged from the other end side, a hot air supply tube 12 inserted into the rotary cylinder and extended in a longitudinal direction of the rotary cylinder, and many branch tubes 13 arranged at a predetermined interval pitch along the longitudinal direction at the tube 12 to diffuse a hot air from above to a material layer of a bottom of the rotary cylinder 1. In this case, a plurality of the plate 2 are arranged, and disposed in a zigzag manner.
