PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission system and a multiplex transmitting method, with which terminal stations can be greatly increased while enabling the discrimination of terminal stations even in the simultaneous connection without damaging the access speed of information on each of channels. SOLUTION: A subscriber line multiplex transmitter 10 performs modulation with a signal supplied wpward by an ONU 14, FDM multiplexing is applied to this modulated signal, the multiplexed signal is supplied to an optical star coupler 16 as an up optical signal, WDM multiplexing is applied to the up optical signals of deferent wavelengths supplied from the other plural ONUs, and these signals are supplied to an OLT 12. The OLT 12 performs modulation with a signal supplied downward, FDM multiplexing is applied to this modulated signal, down optical signals are supplied to an optical star coupler 30 as multiplexed signals of different wavelengths, WDM multiplexing is applied to the down optical signal, this signal is supplied to each of ONU after being branched to respective routes by the optical star coupler 16, and the signal is decoupled/demodulated by an ONU 14, for example, as a procedure opposite to multiplexing. |
