The invention relates to a device for implementing an interactive road map. The inventive device comprises a data processing system having a storage unit. Data concerning the road network of a predetermined geographic region are stored in said storage unit. The inventive device also comprises an input device by means of which said data concerning the road network of the predetermined geographic region can be altered and completed. Said device further comprises a device for representing a graphic surface. The road network of the predetermined geographic region or components thereof can be optically displayed on said surface. The aim of the invention is to input and search data, in addition to data which contains information on the geographic topography of a predetermined region. At least one area that contains predetermined data and is designed as a search field for a portion of said predetermined data is provided on the graphic surface. Said area can be controlled by means of the input device for selecting portions of the predetermined data.
