A hand-held pneumatic rotary drive tool (1) havingan adjustable exhaust (31). The tool (1) has an elngate housing (3) containing a pneumatic motor (M) The housing (3) has an inlet passage (15) for presurized air at the rearward end (7) of the housing(3) and air delivery passaging (21) for flow of prssurized air to the motor (M). A rotary connector 17) on the housing at the inlet passage (15) permis connection to an air hose. The housing (3) also as an air exhaust passage (27) for exhausting air rom the motor (M). An air deflector (31) for exhauting air exiting the exhaust passage (27) is rotatble around the connector (17) for deflecting exhaut air laterally outward in a selected direction aw direction away from a user holding the tool, the nnular wall (143) of the deflector (31) having an pening (151) for directional later exhaust.
