PURPOSE: An automatic capping apparatus is provided is prevent clogging of nozzles and lengthen useful life of head cartridge, by automatically performing a capping operation when the head cartridge is escaped from the printer. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a capping assembly(100), and a head cartridge(42). The capping assembly includes a square C-shaped structure(101) having holes formed at both ends of the structure; a position adjusting guide for adjusting the position of a capping rubber in accordance with the position of ink nozzles; a spring for buffering of the capping rubber; a spring support installed within the spring, and which prevents escape of the spring; and the capping rubber for capping nozzles of the head cartridge, and which is arranged onto the spring support. The head cartridge includes hingers(80) protruded from left and right sides of the head cartridge; and stoppers(92a,92b) formed above and beneath hingers so as to prevent escape of the capping assembly.
