Rail brake element, especially in connection with rail brake buffers, comprises two C-shaped clamping plates (22) gripping a rail head (14) from each side, at least one brake shoe (40), which lies with an approximately flat under side on a rail head and has on the upper side two roof-like inclined surfaces (42) which fall to the side of the rail head. The inclined surfaces of the brake shoe have a gradient of at least 20 degrees , preferably 25 degrees , and the brake shoe and the clamping plates are designed so that in the case of a non-corroded rail head the ends of the upper arm (26) lie a distinct distance (x) away from the upper edge (44) of the associated inclined surface. |
