Heading C2C. t-Perfluoro-alcohols of the formula where R is a perfluoroalkyl radical, are obtained by heating under anhydrous conditions alkalimetal primary perfluoroalkoxides with tetrafluoro-ethylene in the presence of an inert solvent and subsequently replacing the alkalimetal in the t-perfluoro-alkoxides produced by hydrogen. The primary perfluoroalkoxides used may be prepared by reacting carbonyl fluoride or a perfluoroalkanoyl fluoride with an alkali-metal fluoride. The invention also comprises perfluorodiethylpropyl carbinol and perfluorodiethyl-nheptyl carbinol as new compounds. |
