The invention relates to a fuel injection valve with a valve body (1), in which a piston-shaped, longitudinally displaceable valve member (5) is guided over a section of the length thereof (105) in a drilling (2) and which reaches towards the combustion chamber with a valve member shaft (205) of smaller diameter, forming a pressure shoulder (9). The combustion chamber end of the valve member (5) controls at least one injection opening (15) in a conventional manner. The pressure shoulder (9) and the valve member shaft (205) are arranged in a pressure chamber (11), formed in the valve body, which may be filled with fuel under high pressure. On the guided section (105) of the valve member (5) a circular groove (35) is formed, in which at least one sealing ring (20) is arranged, which is interrupted in at least one position on its circumference by a slot (25). A transverse (22) and a longitudinal pressure gap (24) are arranged between the sealing ring (20) and the ring groove (35), which are connected to the pressure chamber. The sealing ring (20) is forced radially outwards against the side surfaces (39), opposite the combustion chamber, by means of the fuel pressure in the pressure gaps (22, 24), whereby a good sealing of the pressure chamber results.
