PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the magnification adjusting mechanism of a compact portable miroscope, to make adjustable the position of an inspection sample even when the entire microscope is not lifted up, to make the microscope compact even in the case of including an illuminator by a battery, and to prevent the inspection sample from being observed in a reddish state even in the case of being illuminated by a miniature lamp. SOLUTION: A lithium battery BATT is used as a power source for illumination, and a lens barrel 2 equipped with eyepieces 2c and 2b is pressed to the same level as the height of a battery chamber 13 and stored in the chamber 13, whereby the microscope is miniaturized. Since the lens barrel 2 on a movable side slides in contact with an inner periphery with an elastic material O-ring 8 on the outer periphery of an objective lens barrel housing part 12 on a fixed side, magnification is smoothly set. The characteristic of a miniature lamp 7 being a light source is compensated by a filter 6, and the filter 6 can be turned considering the exchange of the lamp 7. By forming a notch on a hood 3 on the periphery on an objective lens side, a pair of tweezers is inserted from the notch so as to easily minutely move an observation object.
