PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linearly moving device and a control method therefore capable of preventing occurrence of discrepancy due to thermal expansion of a feed shaft. SOLUTION: This linearly moving device is provided with a first bearing part 2 freely rotatably holding one end part of the feed shaft 41, and regulating the axial movement of the feed shaft 41, a second bearing part 11 freely rotatably holding the other end part of the feed shaft 41, and capable of moving in the axial direction according to the elongation due to thermal expansion of the feed shaft 41, and a clamp mechanism part 51 constraining the axial movement of the second bearing part 11 and releasing constraint of the movement arbitrarily.
