PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline secondary battery with a negative electrode which contains a corrosion-resistant hydrogen occlusion alloy of high hydrogen occlusion/discharge ability. SOLUTION: The battery is equipped with the negative electrode 4 which contains the hydrogen occlusion alloy including rare-earth elements, Ce and La, and Ni and Co. The mol ratio of Ce and La, x and y respectively considering that of the rare-earth elements is 1, satisfies the formula, 4.5<=y/x<=9.0. Furthermore, the amount of La involved is more than 24 wt.%. |
