PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress reflection on the interface between a liquid crystal material and an alignment film in a liquid crystal optical device and to obtain improved uniform transmission characteristics. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal optical device is produced by disposing substrates 101, 102 on which transparent conductive films 103, 104, intermediate films 105, 106 and alignment films 107, 108 are formed, respectively, facing each other and sealing a liquid crystal 110 between the substrates. The thickness and refractive index of each of the aforementioned three films are controlled to obtain <=1% reflectance of light on at least one interface between the liquid crystal and the alignment film. |
