PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute the communications between an electronic endoscope device and a signal changeover device for the electronic endoscope (signal changeover device) having a system control circuit with fewer signal lines. SOLUTION: A synchronizing signal S1 is outputted from a timing control circuit 42 and a control signal D1 is outputted from a system control circuit 43 to a signal synthesizing circuit 47. The synchronizing signal S1 and control signal D1 inputted in the signal synthesizing circuit 47 are synthesized and are outputted as a synthesized signal C1 via one signal line to the signal changeover device 10. The control signal D1 is superposed on a section held by two horizontal synchronizing pulses exclusive of the vertical interval of the synchronizing signal S1. The signal changeover device 10 is provided with a signal separating circuit 17 which separates the inputted synthesized signal C1 to the original synchronizing signal S1 and control signal D1. The control signal D1 is inputted to the system control circuit 43 and the synchronizing signal S1 is outputted to a changeover switch 14.
