The method involves generating control signals for manipulating the engine and/or gearbox of a vehicle taking into account vehicle state and operating parameters in a speed governing system. The actual accelerator pedal position (Gasist) is converted into an artificial factor (FakErs) depending on revolution rate according to a predetermined functional relationship.
