PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speed change operation device with wrong operation preventive mechanism capable of smoothening and facilitating driving operation and substantially lightening the burden of the driver when advancing and retracting are repeated. SOLUTION: Wrong operation such as wrong selection of the retraction position against driver's will instead of selecting a speed changing position out of six positions from the first position to the sixth speed change position for advance can be prevented by making a locking member 31 abut on a lock restricting section 50, and speed change operation to the retraction position and the first speed position is also permitted by operating an operation section 36 to an unlocking position. As a result, in putting a car in a barn that requires to repeat car retraction and advance, the driver becomes free from troublesome work such as the operation of the operation section 36 and secures smooth operation. The burden on the driver is thus substantially reduced.
