PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head press mechanism in which a uniform pressing force is ensured between a thermal head and a platen roller regardless of variation in the accuracy of parts and print can be performed with uniform print density. SOLUTION: The head press mechanism 20 comprises a head support 30 having a thermal head 40, a platen roller 50, and compression coils 61a, 61b. The head support 30 is provided with bearing parts 31a, 31b arranged on a line. One bearing part 31a of the head support 30 is arranged to be positioned on the platen roller 50 means of a positioning mechanism (5) and the other bearing part 31b of the head support 30 is arranged to move along a specified locus with respect to movement of the platen roller 50 by means of a guide groove (6).
