PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for resistance welding which is excellent in joining strength with a shank and capable of preventing foreign matter deposit and deterioration of appearance and a producing method thereof. SOLUTION: This electrode for resistance welding 1 has a fitting hole 10 which fits into the shank for energizing, an inner surface of the fitting hole 10 is cleaned and polished with a cleaning agent having etching effect and, thereby, the surface roughness is made coarse.
