PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a treated film that is free from toxic problems caused by heavy metals such as chromium compounds and that also exhibits the adhesion of a coating material and corrosion resistance equal to or higher than those by phosphate treatment to which chromium sealing is applied even in the case the metal to be treated is galvanized steel sheet or cold rolled steel sheet. SOLUTION: This post-treating agent for a phosphate treated film on a metallic surface contains (A) a hydrazine derivative, (B) silica fine particles, and (C) acid capable of etching a metallic surface. By this post-treating method for a phosphate treated film on a metallic surface, the phosphate treated film on the metallic surface is coated with the post-treating agent in such a manner that the weight of the dry film is controlled to 0.05 to 3.0 g/m2, and drying is performed.
