PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for a battery excellent in compatibility with an electrolyte, and stability for holding a liquid. SOLUTION: This separator for a battery using a porous sheet of an ultrahigh molecular weight plastic includes a polymer having at least one group selected from an ether group and a carbonyl group, attached thereto. A polyethylene oxide, a polypropylene oxide, a polyethylene glycol, a polyvinyl pyrrolidone or the like can be used as the polymer. Further, an organic sulfonic acid salt such as a alkylbenzenesulfonic acid salt and an alkylnaphthalenesulfonic acid salt can be also attached thereto. |
