PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal transmission device for an elevator via the space propagation of light with high reliability even when ambient light and dust exist. SOLUTION: A light transmitter and light receivers 11, 14 are installed on a building 6 side and on the car 3 of the elevator respectively, a threshold value is controlled according to the ambient illuminance of the place where the light receivers 11, 14 are installed, and the component by the ambient light is excluded from the received signals.
