In an exchange of the type in which received data is stored and then handled within the exchange at higher than line speed, there is a plurality of the stores, and a smaller number of speed control means which are selectably connectable to any of the stores. Signals from a line are passed to an associated core store which feeds data, block by block, to a magnetic drum, tape, or like store. When the latter is full, one of the speed control means is seized and data transferred at high speed to the next stages of the exchange. ' |
