The invention relates to a process for preparing cefetamet sodium salt for injectable use which consists/consisting in dissolving 7-aminodesacetoxy cephalosporanic acid in an aqueous medium containing sodium bicarbonate in a ratio of 7:1 water : sodium bicarbonate or acetone, wherein 2-chloracetomido-thiazolyl-(sin)-metoxyiminoacetic as hydrochloride is added in order to form/produce cefetamet N-protected sodium salt that is next deprotected by a treatment with thiourea in an ayueous medium in a ratio of 2:1 cefetamet-N protected: thiourea, when the 2-amino group from thiazolic nucleus/ring is removed, thus obtaining/producing/forming acid cefetamet which is suspended in a solvent selected from methanol or other lower alcohols in order to form/produce cefetamet sodiu salt, isolated by crystallization from a novel solvent selected from isopropanol, acetone or n-butanol.
