PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic endoscope that has many more switch functions under excellent operability. SOLUTION: A plurality of operation switches such as a freeze switch 23 and an optical magnification switch 25 is provided at an operation section 11 of the electronic endoscope 10 and a recorder such as a video printer is connected to the electronic endoscope 10 via a processor. When the optical magnification switch 25 is depressed at the same time as the freeze switch 23 is depressed or in a freezing operation, a CPU of the electronic endoscope 10 actuates the recorder by its control. Or a Far switch and a Near switch are employed for the optical magnification switch 25 and depressing e.g. the Far switch at the same time as the switch 23 is depressed or during the freeze operation may record a still picture on the video printer or depressing the Near switch at the same time as the switch 23 is depressed or during the freeze operation may record a still picture on a filling unit employing a recording medium.
