PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sprocket for maintaining the smooth engagement with a chain and reduced in weight thereof with the thin plate thickness over the whole thereof and capable of sufficiently securing the strength to the torsion and to be easily manufactured by pressing and having good design. SOLUTION: This sprocket is formed of a metal plate having a plate thickness set at 4/5-1/10 of the thickness of a tooth root of an appropriate tooth to be appropriately engaged with a chain. A through hole 6 is formed at a central part of the sprocket, and a reduction hole 22 is formed so as to be opened in the through hole 6, and a waveform part 2 to be amplified in the thickness direction is formed near the peripheral part along the circumferential direction. Teeth 5 are formed in the outer end of at least each top part 3 of the wave of the waveform part 2 so as to set the thickness of the teeth 5 in appearance the same as the thickness of the appropriate tooth.
