PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extraneous matter remover which can cut off the dust or the like adhering to the inner face of the exhaust gas duct having a horizontal duct part or an inclined duct part annexed to a fusion furnace without doing damage to that inner face. SOLUTION: An exhaust gas duct 23 is constituted of an inclined duct 23a, and the tip of the exhaust gas duct 23 is connected to the sidewall provided at the bottom end of of a combustor 23. An exhaust gas passage 25 sends the exhaust gas guided from the exhaust gas duct 23 to the combustor 24, and has a dust, etc., recovering container 26 connected to its bottom. An extraneous matter remover 27 is arranged at the inclined duct 23a so as to cut off the adherent dust, etc., it is necessary for a cutting head 32 to set the clearance at the time of the tip of the head being bent at the longest distance when inserted into the inclined duct 23a to not less than 5 mm and not more than 50 mm.
