PURPOSE: A system and method for providing location information using a bi-directional pager containing a GPS receiver is provided to reutilize existing pager networks having eclipsed but allocated frequency bands. CONSTITUTION: A GPS receiver embedded in a pager(300) transmits the location data of the pager to a web server(500) at regular time intervals. The web server(500) stores the location data of the pager(300) in the pager DB of a database(600) continuously. If a subscriber(800) requests the web server(500) to provide the location information of the pager(300), the web server(500) searches the database(600) for all the location data stored at regular time intervals, reads the location data and geographical information, and maps the location of the pager(300), based on the location data and geographical information.
