PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk with which an access operation is not made unstable. SOLUTION: A non-recording area 5 is provided on the outer peripheral side of a recording area 4 on an optical disk 1. Between the recording area 4 and the non-recording area 5 on the optical disk 1, a mark area 6 is provided. In this mark area 6, a recognizing mark area 6d is formed for recognizing the boundary of the recording area 4 and the non-recording area 5. Inside the mark area 6, first and second buffer areas 6b and 6c are respectively provided before and after the recognizing mark area 6d. The width of the first and second buffer areas 6d is set to the width of >=20 tracks and <=100 tracks.
