METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR AUTOMATICALLY GENERATING SHAPE AND CURVATURE FOR GEOGRAPHICAL DATA BASE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process and a system for collecting data in regard to a road within a geographical range and using the collected data for denoting a position and a shape of the road for a geographical data base. SOLUTION: A vehicle carrying a data collector is driven on the road and the data collector is used for collecting data denoting positions of the vehicle while it is driven along the road and data indicating a vehicular route. The data of the moving vehicle are smoothed and merged. The data obtained while moving are processed by a program automatically selecting data necessary for providing an accuracy of a specific level in the geographical data base, but this geographical data base includes data indicating the road such as data denoting a position and a shape of the road. Data selected by the program are stored in the geographical data base.
