A clearinghouse system in which an advertiser (180) usually first obtains a line of credit for advertising from a financial institution (182) wherein this process is roughly analogous to processing a commercial consumer credit card. The financial institution assigns an account number and credit limit. This account number will be used for charging later advertisements. The users then join a specified clearinghouse (186). The ad agency (184) then books a commercial along with other information about the advertisement. The advertisement is marked with a security code such that billing may be processed through a computer via the Internet with a server and/or client computer.
