PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mark erasing device for freely erasing unnecessary displays in a preceding process in a continuous production line or an inspection line even in the case of erroneously displaying caused by the defects of a steel plate inspection device or the like to improve the production efficiency. SOLUTION: The mark erasing device is used for erasing marks marked by a maker pen or the like on a defective section of the steel plate or the like carried on the continuous production line, the inspection line or the like, and the mark erasing device is provided with a solvent adhering means (24) for making a mark erasing solvent adhere on the mark erasing range of erasing marks and dissolving a marking ink and a wiping means (25) for wiping off a dissolved ink.
