PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition having a picture quality improving function, capable of forming a film contributing to improvement in color purity and contrast in a state of prevention of reduction in image resolution and retention of sufficient picture quality on the surface of transparent substrate. SOLUTION: This composition having a picture quality improving function comprises (A) a tetraazaporphine of general formula (I) [M is Si, Ge or Sn; two Ys are each independently a 6-18C aryloxy group, a 1-22C alkoxy group or the like; A1, A2, A3 and A4 are each independently a specific aromatic ring], (B) a film-forming polymer and (C) a reddish purple coloring matter.
