PURPOSE: A video decoder and a decoding method are provided to process several video bit streams simultaneously with one HD(High Definition) level video decoder without additional video decoder by decoding a variety of video bit stream of a frame rate and a film mode in time multiplexing by frame. CONSTITUTION: A memory(104) consists of a bit stream buffer region and a frame memory region each of which is divided according to a video bit stream number of multi decoding to record a plurality of input video bit stream at each corresponding region. A single video decoding unit(102) performs video decoding in time multiplexing of the plurality of video bit stream inputted through the memory(104) by constant unit to record at the corresponding region of the memory(104). A multi display control unit(106) allots a display number according to a frame rate and a film mode signal every display frame of each video bit stream, reads data decoded fitting for display synchronization from the memory(104) to output in time multiplexing, and decreases a corresponding display number after output. A multi decoding control unit(105) determines a video bit stream to decode presently in the plurality of video bit stream according to the display condition of the multi display control unit(106). |
