The invention concerns a collapsible railing (1) for a boat. The invention further concerns a boat with a collapsible railing (1) and a sailboat with a collapsible railing (1). The collapsible railing (1) includes a collapsible railing support (4) including an arm (6) and a railing bracket (5) designed to fix the railing support (4) to the boat, whereby the arm (6) is collapsibly positioned from an essentially vertical position to an essentially horizontal position. The collapsible railing also includes an extended, flexible safety element (11) positioned to connect with the said arm (6) whereby the railing (1) is designed to collapse through release of a tension in the extended flexible safety element (11).
