PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the load on data transfer in a system in which a client performs an editing instruction of an image, a server edits the image based on the editing instruction and image data, etc., obtained as a result are transferred to the client. SOLUTION: When a user 1 instructs a laboratory 2 to start editing, the laboratory 2 transfers template data T to a personal computer 10. The computer 10 inquires an editing object of the laboratory 2, and the laboratory 2 transfers editing information representing the editing object to the computer 10. The user 1 receives it, performs an editing instruction and transfers editing instruction information H representing editing results to the laboratory 2. The laboratory 2 edits the data T and image data SO based on the information H, obtains intermediately processed image data M, generates low capacity data ML obtained by reducing the data quantity of the data M and transfers the data ML to the computer 10.
