In a process for cleaning wire surfaces with a stripper, the stripper is in the form of a textile strand, which is wound spirally around and moves forwards along the wire to be cleaned; and the wire and strand move in the same direction, the strand more slowly than the wire. An Independent claim is also included for the wire stripping equipment.
