A process for preparing an aldehyde includes contacting a mixture of C6-C12 olefins from a refinery olefinic material, hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and a hydroformylation catalyst under hydroformylation reaction conditions wherein the catalyst includes a Group VIII metal and an effective amount of a ligand selected from triarylphosphites, sterically hindered tri-organophosphites containing at least one aryl group and fluorophosphites. |
