METHOD FOR MEASURING RADIAL RESONANCE FREQUENCY OF ROLLING BEARING UNIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and freely measure the radial resonance frequency of a rolling bearing unit 4 constituted by providing a pair of ball bearings 9 and 9 between an internal cylinder 7 and an external cylinder 8. SOLUTION: While the internal cylinder 7 is clamped by a couple of support members 36 and 36, the rolling bearing unit 4 is excited radially. A vibration detector 24 detects the radial vibration to measure the radial resonance frequency. The support rigidity obtained by the support members 36 and 36 is made largar than that by the roller bearings 9 and 9 to prevent noise from affecting a measured value.
