PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce voids having directionality without lowering the resolution of characters remarkably. SOLUTION: In order to reduce voids having directionality without lowering the resolution of the characters remarkably, the parameter of skin detection is periodically or randomly selected by each line by a density variation threshold value selecting part 110 and switched. Furthermore, in order to prevent the occurrence of the void in an output picture and to obtain a high resolution picture, in the outer edge part of the characters, a limiter processing part 104 performs limiter processing to a signal which is given edge emphasizing processing by an edge emphasizing part 103 in accordance with a skin density outputted from a skin density detection part 107. In addition, when the skin density is detected in a single direction whenever it is detected, a voiding phenomenon having directionality occurs as mentioned before. Thus, in consideration of this phenomenon, the detecting direction of the skin density is switched by each line to suppress the voids which can be confirmed by visualization. |
