PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system with which bidirectional communication using a cable TV is performed, without placing a large load on an user using a simple method. SOLUTION: The system is provided with a modulating/demodulating device 12, connected to a cable wire 17 for transmitting the signal of a cable TV, to modulate/demodulate data for communication via the cable wire, a repeater device 10 having a first transmitting/receiving device 14 which transmits data demodulated by the device 12 to a prescribed destination, receives data from the destination and transmits it to the device 12 and second transmitting/ receiving devices 18 arranged in accordance with respective kinds of terminal equipment 20 and connected to them to transmit/receive data with the first transmitting/receiving device. The repeater device 10 is disposed adjacent to a structure body, where the cable wire 17 is arranged, and the second transmitting/receiving device 18 are disposed to be adjacent to the respective kinds of corresponding terminal equipment in a range, where data is exchanged with the first device.
