PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new device used for the angioplasty procedure of carotid arteries. SOLUTION: The device blocks the bloodstream on the downstream side of a lesion in a carotid arteries by longitudinally crossing the lesion and is used as an exchangeable guide wire. The device has a balloon catheter 10 having a catheter main body equipped with an expansion conduit, an expansion balloon 20, an adapter 18 for expanding the balloon 20, and an expanding member 22. The device is constituted in such a way that, when the adapter 18 is removed, the balloon 20 is maintained in an expanded state by connecting the extending member 22 to the nearest end of the expansion conduit. |
