PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure for mounting auxiliary machinery, such as a fuel pump and a generator on a cylinder block of an engine, that is, the structure for attaining a compact engine having high productivity, where an auxiliary machinery mounting surface is easy to convert and the mounting rigidity of the auxiliary machinery can be secured, even when the cylinder block is made of a light alloy and which will not compel the structure of each of the existing kinds of auxiliary machinery to be change considerably by solving the conventional technical problems. SOLUTION: In this structure, including a flange 3 for mounting the auxiliary machine 2, for mounting the auxiliary machine 2 of the engine, the flange 3 is fastened with a bolt 4 from the side of a side surface 13 of the cylinder block 1 to a corner part, where the flange 3 is formed between a front end surface 12 of the cylinder block 1 or a back end surface 11 thereof and the side surface 13, and the auxiliary machine 2 is mounted on the flange 3.
