Polyurethanes are prepared by reacting an aliphatic polyol with a diisocyanate of the formula wherein z is 0, or 2, x and y are 0 or integers from 1 to 20 and the sum of x and y is from 7 to 20. Preferred Busocyanates are those derived from 9-aminoundecylamine, 9-aminomethylundecylamine, 9(10)-aminostearylamine or 9(10) - aminomethylstearylamine. The aliphatic polyol is preferably a triol, tetrol or hexol and may be an alkylene oxide/alkylene diamine adduct, glycerol, 1,1,1 .trimethylolpropane, 1,1,1- trimethylolethane, hexane triol or pentaerythritol and their alkylene oxide adducts, sorbitol or mannitol. The reaction may take place in the presence of a catalyst which is a tertiary amine or a metal salt of an organic acid and an inert organic solvent. Uses.- Coatings and films. |
