An insulated container 20, Fig. 3, has partitions 34 carrying rails 38, 40, 42 supporting the ends of cylindrical cans A, B to provide a number of side-by-side, serpentine, double stacks, the cans gravitating towards dispensing openings 56, 58 controlled by right-angle paddle wheels 66, cold air from refrigerator 52 circulating through the stacks. The paddles may be controlled separately through 90 degree steps or two side-by-side together secured on a common axle 70, e.g. cans A (solid lines) are-released in two 45 degree steps of the paddle alternatively with cans A (dotted lines) in the next side stack. A coin switch energizes solenoid 74, Figs. 4, 6, 11, rotating crank 86 about pivot 80 to engage rods 84 carried by paddle stops 68 pivoted at 80 and move them away from paddles 66 against spring 88. The paddles rotate 45 degrees under the weight of cans and one is dispensed, e.g. the dotted can in Fig. 3. A paddle actuates a credit cancelling switch 108 via feeler 110, the solenoid is de-energized and the stop 68 intercepts the paddles and prevents further dispensing. When one stack is empty, flap 94 pivoted at 98 falls and locks at 104, 106 a rod 102 sliding with one stop bar 84 to prevent that stop 68 engaging one paddle whereby the solenoid releases the other stop to allow 90 degree rotation of the paddles for dispensing cans until the other stack is empty. Sold out signs or arms 118 pivoted at 98 fall and via bar 116 actuate empty lamp switches 112, 114. The sold out arms may be shortened or repositiond so that one or more cans remain in the stacks. |
