A device for cropping wire, particularly one wire or lead out of a group of wires or leads projecting substantially at right angles from a printed circuit board, comprises a fixed blade 4 and a blade 6 pivotable about an axis 6a against a spring 11 by the advance of a pneumaticallyactuated piston 2 towards the right in Fig. 1. The noses 8, 9 of the blades can be introduced into a group of wires with the pivot axis 6a substantially normal, and the blades therefore substantially parallel, to the axes of the wires. Cutting takes place between shearing edges 14<SP>1</SP> and 15<SP>1</SP> on a rebate 14 on the nose 9 of the blade 4 and on a portion 15 extending substantially at right angles to the nose 8 of the blade 6, respectively. Continued movement of the blade 6 bends the wire over on to the printed circuit board. The piston housing 1 may be replaced by one extending substantially in alignment with the blade axes. |
