PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a leaf blower which generates little noise, and has a high durability. SOLUTION: A portable leaf blower having a fan 11, and a fan unit 10 furnishing a combustion engine 12 to drive the fan 11, is provided. The fan unit 10 is set in shells 16 and 17, while a lower side inlet opening 23 is provided to the shells, so as to make the air flow into the fan 11 through the opening 23 in the operation. An upper side opening 24 is provided furthermore to the shells. And when the engine 12 is stopped, the air to cool the engine 12 flows from the lower side inlet opening 23 to the upper side opening 24 through the shells 16 and 17, by the self-convection.
