The rescue aid for use with a self-inflating life vest is a compressed tampon of a cord which is incorporated into the vest, and which opens out into a loop when the vest is inflated. The cord floats in water, and is attached to the life vest by a snap link. The cord is within a plastics mantle to give the flotation.
