PURPOSE: A method for efficiently producing an aromatic compound isomer proper to suppress deterioration of an adsorbent containing zeolite and prolong the life of adsorbent is provided by means of adsorptive separation. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises adsorbing and separating an aromatic compound substituted with an alkyl group and/or a halogen by using the adsorbent containing zeolite and a desorbent and is characterized in that after the impurity of the desorbent is reduced, the desorbent is fed to the adsorption and separation process. The aromatic compound is selected from the compounds having benzene ring or hetero ring, or the compounds having nucleus substituted by halogen elements.
