PURPOSE: Provided is Korean chess of which pieces are carved with a plurality of Chinese characters indicating the thought for loyalty and filial piety and the unification of the heavens, the earth and human, and which is effective for the development of personality. CONSTITUTION: The chess comprises a chessboard having total 144 spaces (equal to pulse rate) composed of 12 by 12 spaces and pieces composed of 24 blue pieces and 24 red pieces. The 24 pieces consists of: i) one 'king' piece carved with 'Gung' and 'So'; ii) four 'Sa' pieces carved with 'Yong'(dragon), 'Jak'(sparrow), 'Ho'(tiger) and 'Mu'(knight) on the both sides; iii) two season pieces carved with 'Chun(spring) and 'Ha'(summer) or 'Chu'(autumn) and 'Dong'(winter) on the both sides respectively, which can move freely and not be taken with each other; iv) two 'Guk' pieces carved with Guk'(country) and 'Jin'(truth) on the both sides respectively, which move vertically and horizontally by a space and then diagonally by a space; v) two 'Bu' pieces carved with 'Bu'(father) and 'Seon'(good) on the both sides respectively, which move vertically and horizontally by a space and then moving diagonally by two spaces; vi) two 'Mo' pieces carved with 'Mo'(mother) and 'Mi'(beauty) on the both sides respectively, which move vertically and horizontally by two spaces and then diagonally by a space; vii) two 'Chung' pieces carved with 'Chung'(royalty) and 'Il'(one) on the both sides respectively, which move vertically and horizontally by two spaces and then diagonally by two spaces; viii) two 'Hyo'(filial piety) pieces carved with 'Hyo'(filial piety) and 'Sim'(heart) on the both sides respectively, which move vertically and horizontally by three spaces and then diagonally by a space; and ix) seven 'Jol'(soldier) pieces carved with 'Du', 'Woo', 'Yeo', 'Heo', 'Wi', 'Si' and 'Byeok' indicating stars of the Plow on one side and 'Wol'(moon), 'Hwa'(fire), 'Su'(water), 'Mok'(wood), 'Geum'(metal), 'To'(earth) and 'Il'(sun) indicating planets of the solar system on the other side, which move forward or horizontally by a space.
