Rectangular tool housing (1) has pistol-grip handle and actuating switch (11). Binding wire, of e.g. plastic-coated metal, runs through hollow tube lying on longitudinal axis (B), and, emerging laterally (39) through front end, is gripped in a clamping and cutting fitting (4), fixed to side of C-shaped - component (2). Completely rotatable about transverse axis, this presents gap (20) that when tool is idle coincides with notch (13,14) in housing admitting two or more objects to be bound together, typically a vine stem and a supporting wire. Two toothed wheels (22), driven by an electric motor (26) via a toothed belt (24) running over tensioning and guide pulleys (27), engage the toothed rim (21) of the C-shaped component, which in a complete revolution wraps the binding wire around the objects to be tied. With the annulus opening (20) facing rearwards, the guide tube is advanced axially into the gap by a solenoid (38) while being rotated by a second motor (32) complete the tie. The wire's free end transfers to the clamp/cutter, ready to repeat the cycle. A variant uses only one motor.
|
